A Stereophonic Acoustic Front-End for Distant-Talking Interfaces based on Blind Source Separation

چکیده
In this contribution, an acoustic front-end for distanttalking interfaces that only requires two microphone signals is presented. It comprises a directional blind source separation (BSS)-based noise and interference estimation scheme and Wiener-type filters for noise and interference suppression. The proposed front-end and its integration into a speech recognition system is analyzed and evaluated in noisy living-room-like environments representing a generalization of the PASCAL CHiME challenge, implying that the potential of the method is verified for a wide range of distances.

Matching the Acoustic Model to Front-End Signal Processing for ASR in Noisy and Reverberant Environments
Distant-talking automatic speech recognition (ASR) represents an extremely challenging task. The major reason is that unwanted additive interference and reverberation are picked up by the microphones besides the desired signal. A hands-free human-machine interface should therefore comprise a powerful acoustic preprocessing unit in line with a robust ASR back-end. However, since perfect speech e...

Aiming at ’natural’ hands-free acoustic human/machine interfaces, the need for according distant-talking automatic speech recognition (ASR) systems increases and presents us with major signal processing challenges at the acoustic front-end. Considering interactive TV as a challenging exemplary application scenario, we investigate the structural problems presented by noisy and reverberant multi-...
متن کاملSelective Listening Point Audio Based on Blind Signal Separation and Stereophonic Technology
A sound field reproduction method is proposed that uses blind source separation and a head-related transfer function. In the proposed system, multichannel acoustic signals captured at distant microphones are decomposed to a set of location/signal pairs of virtual sound sources based on frequency-domain independent component analysis. After estimating the locations and the signals of the virtual...

The so-called semi-blind source separation (SBSS) is an extension of BSS when some signals can be directly and individually measured. SBSS can be used to implement multi-channel acoustic cancellation (MCAEC) without the need for double-talk detection. However, traditional MCAEC approaches based on least mean-square (LMS) lead to a non-unique solution due to correlated sources formed when a sing...
